Every vehicle coming to or from Tasmania crosses Bass Strait by sea. There is no other way, and that fact governs the timing of every Tasmanian movement.

These are booked departures, not jobs we go looking for after you enquire. Prices are indicative starting points for a sedan, depot-to-depot, one way.
Vehicles are carried by road to Melbourne, cross to Devonport by ferry, then run down the Midland Highway to Hobart. The ferry schedule is the constraint, not the truck. We run this corridor twice weekly, and a missed sailing costs several days rather than several hours. Build that into your planning and it is entirely predictable. Hobart access is mostly straightforward, with the exception of the steep, narrow streets running up toward kunanyi / Mount Wellington in West Hobart, South Hobart and parts of Battery Point, where a loaded carrier will not go. Launceston, Devonport and Burnie are all serviced off the same run.
