Caravan, Camper & Motorhome Transport

Caravans, pop-tops, camper trailers, motorhomes and fifth wheelers. Either towed by a licensed driver or carried on a deck, which one depends on the van, the route and the time of year.

If the van is towed and unregistered, we arrange the permits or trade plates. That is our problem to solve, not something we hand back to you.

The grey nomad run

A large share of this work is one-way, and it is deeply seasonal. People drive north for the dry season, spend a few months in the Territory or the Kimberley, then fly home and have the van and the car freighted back. In the other direction, vans come south before the wet.

That means the northbound run books out around March to May and the southbound around September to October. If your trip works that way, book early. These corridors do not run daily and a missed departure can cost a fortnight.

Preparing a van

Empty the water tanks: mass, and a sloshing tank is a moving load
Turn off and disconnect gas bottles, and secure them properly
Retract and lock the awning, and secure the door and all hatches
Secure everything inside: anything loose becomes a projectile
Wind up stabiliser legs and secure the jockey wheel
Photograph the interior as well as the exterior

Heading to Western Australia? Vans are inspected harder than cars: far more surface area and far more places for soil and plant material to sit. Fifth wheelers and large motorhomes

These are oversize by default. They need permits, route planning, and sometimes pilot vehicles. All of that is manageable. It just is not a same-week booking. Give us the dimensions and mass and we will tell you what is involved before you commit.
