We collect from the address you give us and deliver to the address you nominate. No depot visits, no arranging a lift home, no taking a day off at either end.

It is the service most people want, and it costs roughly 20 to 40 per cent more than depot-to-depot. What you are paying for is a truck leaving the freight route twice and a driver spending time on suburban streets instead of a highway.

What “door” actually means

Here is the part most transport companies leave out until the driver is already on your street.

A car carrier is up to 26 metres long. It cannot turn around in a cul-de-sac, it cannot pass under a low-hanging gum, it cannot get into most apartment car parks, and on a narrow street with cars parked both sides it physically will not fit. None of that is a failure of effort. It is geometry, and no operator in the country can beat it.

Where the truck cannot safely reach your address, we meet you at the nearest sensible spot. Usually a few hundred metres away: a wide side street, a service station, a shopping centre car park. The difference between us and the operators people complain about is that we work this out before you book, not on the morning of collection.

Tell us about access when you request a quote. Narrow street, steep or curved driveway, low branches, a body corporate car park, a gated estate, a boom gate, restricted delivery hours. Any of it. We would rather plan a meeting point than surprise you with one.

What happens on the day

We confirm a collection window ahead of time, and the driver calls before arriving
You and the driver walk the vehicle together and complete a photographed condition report
Both parties sign it, and you keep a copy on the spot
The vehicle is loaded and secured
We call ahead of delivery so nobody spends a day waiting
You inspect against the collection photographs before you sign, and settle the balance

When depot-to-depot is the better call

If you live within a reasonable drive of one of our depots and can spare an hour at each end, depot-to-depot will save you real money for very little inconvenience. On a Sydney to Melbourne run that is a couple of hundred dollars for what amounts to two short trips.

Door-to-door earns its premium when you are mid-move and have no spare time, when you are elderly or without a second driver, when the vehicle is going to or from a regional address well away from a depot, or when you simply want it handled. Those are good reasons. “Because it sounds better” is not one, and we will say so.

Price is held for 30 days from quote either way, so you can compare the two properly before deciding.
