Non-Runner & Unregistered Transport

No engine, no keys, no brakes, no registration. We winch it. This is routine work, not a special favour, but it only goes smoothly if you tell us before the truck is dispatched.

The four questions we will ask

These determine which truck and which equipment get sent. Guessing is worse than saying you do not know.

Question	Why it matters
Does it roll?	If the wheels do not turn we need skates or a tilt tray, not a winch
Does it steer?	A locked steering column changes how it can be positioned on the deck
Do the brakes work?	Determines how it is held once it is on
Are all four wheels on it?	A car on stands or missing a wheel is a different job entirely

Say it up front. A non-runner declared at booking is a routine job with a modest surcharge. A non-runner discovered on collection day means the wrong truck has travelled to your address, and the movement gets rescheduled. We are not trying to catch you out. We genuinely do not mind what condition it is in.

Unregistered vehicles are not a problem

A common worry, and an unnecessary one. An unregistered vehicle is perfectly legal to carry on a truck. Registration governs a vehicle being driven on a road under its own power. On our deck it is freight, and no permit is needed.

Where the vehicle needs to be towed rather than carried, permits or trade plates come into it, and we arrange those.

What we regularly move

Project cars and barn finds: half assembled, no glass, panels off, engine out. We have carried worse.
Repairable write-offs for insurers, repairers and rebuilders
Statutory write-offs moving to a wrecker or dismantler
Auction purchases that turned out to be less mobile than the listing suggested
Deceased estate vehicles that have not turned a wheel in years
Flood and fire damaged vehicles. Tell us, as these can have their own handling requirements

Documentation matters more here

On a damaged vehicle the condition report is doing real work, because “damaged” is not a single state and the difference between damage that was already there and damage that was not can be worth a lot of money. Our driver photographs thoroughly at both ends. Photograph it yourself as well before we arrive. Nobody has ever regretted having too many photos of a write-off.
