Motorcycle Transport
Upright in a purpose-built cradle, strapped over the frame rather than the handlebars.
Bikes travel upright in a purpose-built cradle with a front wheel chock, strapped over the frame. Never laid over, never strapped by the handlebars, never wedged between cars and hoped for.
Why the strapping method matters
The common way to tie a bike down is to run straps over the handlebars and pull hard, compressing the front forks. It is fast, it feels secure, and over a long interstate run it is how fork seals die. Two thousand kilometres of a fully compressed front end with road vibration through it will find any weakness in a seal.
We use a front wheel chock to hold the bike upright and run rated straps over the frame and lower triple clamp. The suspension keeps working the way it was designed to, and the bike arrives with the same fork seals it left with.
What we need to know
- Does it start and ride? A non-runner is fine, but it changes how we load it
- Bar width and any panniers: hard luggage and wide bars need more deck than the bike alone suggests
- Screen or fairing height, particularly on tourers
- Anything fragile, aftermarket or already damaged
Before we collect
- Fuel low but not empty: enough to move it on and off
- Remove or secure loose luggage, tank bags, GPS units and cameras
- Fold or remove mirrors where they stick out past the bars
- Disconnect a battery tender or alarm if fitted
- Photograph the bike from all sides yourself, on top of our condition report
Moving more than one? Bikes share deck space efficiently, so two or three on the same run cost significantly less per bike than one on its own. Clubs moving to a rally, dealers rebalancing stock and riders shipping a collection all book this way.
What we carry
Road bikes, cruisers, tourers, sports bikes, adventure and dual-sport, dirt bikes, scooters, and non-running project bikes. Trikes and sidecars are fine too, but tell us in advance. The footprint is entirely different and it changes the loading plan.
