You won the lot. The free storage window is already running, and after it expires the yard charges you daily to leave your own car where it is.

The storage clock governs everything

Pickles, Manheim, Grays and the rest all allow a short free storage period after sale, then daily fees begin. On a cheap vehicle those fees can start to rival what you paid for it inside a fortnight.

So the job is not “move this eventually”. It is get it off site inside the window. Tell us the deadline when you book and we will say plainly whether the next departure clears it.

What the yard will require

Have these ready before the truck is booked

Lot or stock number and the exact yard location: some operators run several sites in one city
Written release authority naming us as your collection agent. No yard releases a vehicle to a driver who is not on the list.
Confirmation that payment has cleared. Not sent: cleared.
The free storage expiry date
Any gate or access conditions, including collection hours, which are often narrower than you expect

Release paperwork is the most common cause of a failed pickup. A truck turned away at the gate costs a day, and your storage clock does not pause while it is sorted out. Get the authority lodged with the yard before the collection window opens, not on the morning.

Assume it does not run

A large share of auction stock is damaged, ex-fleet in unknown condition, repairable write-off, or simply has a flat battery after weeks in a yard. Listings are consistently optimistic about this.

If there is any doubt, tell us it may not run. Sending a truck with winch capability that turns out not to need it costs nothing. Sending one without it means the vehicle stays put, the clock keeps running, and we both start again.

Documentation matters more here

On damaged stock, the line between damage that was already there and damage that was not can be worth thousands. Our drivers photograph auction collections more heavily than ordinary ones for exactly that reason. Where you can, get the yard’s own photographs too: between the two sets there is very little room for argument later.

Buying regularly?

Rebuilders, dismantlers and dealers moving several lots a month are better off on a standing rate than quoting each one. Less admin, better pricing, and we will already have your release paperwork on file.
