You found the right car. It is in Perth and you are in Newcastle. The seller is reasonable but is not going to hold it for three weeks while you work out how to get it home.

The real anxiety is not the transport

It is paying for something you have not stood next to. Every buyer in this situation has the same worry: what if it is not what the photos showed?

Transport does not solve that, and we are not going to pretend it does. Get a pre-purchase inspection. The state motoring clubs and independent inspectors do them, and it costs a fraction of what a bad purchase costs.

What our involvement does give you is a photographed condition report at collection, taken by a third party who has no stake in the sale, before the car moves. If the car that arrives does not match the car we photographed in the seller’s driveway, that is a documented, dated record. Buyers regularly tell us that report was the thing that let them commit.

How it works with a private seller

• You give us the seller’s address and phone number, and we deal with them directly
• They do not need to be a business or know anything about freight: a driver turns up, they hand over keys, they sign
• The seller keeps a copy of the condition report too, which protects them as much as it protects you
• You are not required to be present at either end

If it does not run

Plenty of online purchases turn out to be less mobile than the ad suggested. That is fine: say so and we send a truck set up to winch. Just tell us before the driver is dispatched, not on the day.
