Farmers & Regional Business
Machinery, utes and clearing-sale purchases delivered well off the highway.
A ute bought three states away, a tractor from a clearing sale, a header that needs to be somewhere before the crop is ready. Regional movement has its own timing, and its own version of “the address”.
The address is not a street
Most of our regional deliveries are to a property rather than a house number, and that changes what we need to know:
- Whether the access track carries a loaded truck, particularly after rain
- Whether there is room to turn a 26-metre vehicle around, or whether we unload at the gate
- Gates, grids and stock: who opens what, and who closes it
- Whether the last stretch is unsealed, and what it is like at this time of year
- A mobile number that actually has reception, and a second one that does
Tell us honestly. A driver who knows to unload at the gate has a good day. A driver who discovers a boggy track with a loaded trailer does not, and neither do you.
Clearing sales and interstate machinery buys
Buying at a clearing sale interstate is common and the constraint is nearly always the same: the vendor wants it gone, often within days, and the property is nowhere near a freight corridor.
Give us the three numbers that matter — height, width and mass — from the compliance plate or the manufacturer’s specification rather than an estimate. Those determine the permit, the permit determines the route, and a wrong figure means the movement does not happen.
Clean the machinery before it travels. Anything that has worked in soil is inspected to a higher standard, not a lower one: tracks, buckets, tynes and cavities. This is mandatory for anything crossing into Western Australia, and it is taken seriously at every state border for machinery specifically.
Seasonal timing
Harvest, sowing and shearing all create the same problem: everyone in a region needs the same equipment moved in the same fortnight. Regional corridors run less frequently than capital-city runs to start with, so a missed departure is measured in weeks rather than days.
If your movement is tied to a season, book against it early. We would much rather hold a slot you end up not needing than tell you the next run is in ten days.
Find out what your move actually costs.
Send us the route and the vehicle. We come back with a fixed price and a real departure date, held for 30 days.
